Klyde Warren Park is Just Three Minutes Away
Just three minutes from Cirque is a vibrant destination known as the city's central gathering place.
It is called Klyde Warren Park, and its design is meant to create a sense of discovery as visitors move through the different rooms.
The park was constructed over the recessed Woodall Rogers Freeway, and its mission is to provide free programming and educational opportunities.
Highlights include:
Fitness
Shared public spaces are believed to encourage healthy lifestyles, and the park's visitors can enjoy fun, effective workouts several days a week. Choices may include Zumba, tai chi, and even ballroom dancing.
Chess
Chess was likely invented in what is now Afghanistan or northern India sometime before 600 A.D. The first championship chess tournament was played in London in the mid-1860s, and at Klyde Warren Park, both beginning and experienced players can enjoy a pick-up game or tournament play. At times, local chess champs are on hand to host programs.
Savor Gastropub
After enjoying all the park's fun, stop by its main restaurant, Savor Gastropub. Executive Chef John Coleman believes that food is social, and he offers shared plates that draw people together for an amazing experience. The elegant dining area features ultra-modern decor and floor-to-ceiling glass walls that allow diners to take in stunning sunsets. Chef Coleman makes the meals using fresh ingredients, and choices include three meat burgers, peppercorn beef tenderloin, and fish & chips. Visitors with a sweet tooth don't want to miss a slice of the ooey gooey German chocolate cake for dessert.
