Enjoy Fall Fun at a Nearby Farm
Now that it's fall, it's time for scarecrows, candy apples, and entertainment at local farms. The farms around DFW offer everything from pumpkin picking to challenging corn mazes. If this sounds like fun to you, head to one of these destinations near our Dallas high rise apartments where you're sure to enjoy an afternoon to remember:
Hall's Pumpkin Farm and Corn Maze
Hall's Pumpkin Farm began from humble beginnings in 1929. Jess Hall started working the land with just one mule and a double-shovel plow. He became famous for his cantaloupes and tomatoes, while also growing potatoes, green beans, and watermelons. Today, Jess' family remains on the land, and they operate one of the last working farms in the Grapevine area.
Hall's is open on the weekends and features kettle corn, hayrides, and a corn maze. The maze includes plenty of twists, turns, and dead ends. It usually takes about twenty minutes to complete and is more challenging after dark.
Storybook Ranch
Storybook sits on what was once a working cattle ranch. The land has been occupied since 1887 and Indians once traveled through the heavily wooded areas surrounding the farm. Storybook has held exciting events for over 25 years, and it's known as one of DFW's best-kept secrets.
The pumpkin patch is set in a 1800s western town and includes hayrides and corn mazes. Visitors can also explore historic buildings dating between 1840 and 1866. They take everyone back in time and were brought in from cities from across the country. The fun runs through October 31st, and all proceeds benefit the River Ranch Educational Charities.
Yesterland Farm
When a firefighter and a real estate appraiser decided to establish a farm, Yesterland was born. Chuck and Kama Bozeman began by planting pine trees, and they added the pumpkin patch in 2005.
The fall festival runs on select dates through November 3rd. Activities include exploring creepy corn mazes, playing zombie paintball, and picking pumpkins/gourds. Don't miss the spectacular fireworks shows. They're held every Friday and Saturday night in October at 8:30 p.m.
