Take a Virtual Tour in Dallas with Space Center Houston
To enjoy some out-of-this-world fun, take a virtual tour of Space Center Houston while staying right here in Dallas. Both an educational complex and space museum, it features over 400 space artifacts and fascinating exhibitions. Here is some of what you can discover from our Dallas apartments:
SpaceX Falcon
The newest exhibition, SpaceX Falcon is the center's first-ever commercial display. Falcon made traveling to space more accessible, and was the "first booster to be reused for a NASA mission." It was first launched in 2017, and the B1035 model was retired after its second trip. Watch the short video for an up-close look at SpaceX Falcon.
Astronaut Gallery
The Astronaut Gallery features one of the most extensive collections of spacesuits and astronaut apparel. One of the highlights is the isolation suit worn by Michael Collins. In 1969, he traveled to the moon's surface with Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong. The men donned the isolation suits upon their return to Earth. They were quickly sprayed with a disinfectant to kill any foreign substances brought back from their mission. See Michael's suit and watch as the Apollo 11 astronauts arrive on USS Hornet and enter the mobile quarantine facility.
International Space Station Gallery
The International Space Station (ISS) orbits above the Earth at over 17,000 miles per hour. The astronauts typically spend about six months aboard the ISS conducting valuable research. Fifteen nations have sent astronauts to the station, and at 340 days, Astronaut Mark Kelly and Russian Cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko hold the record for the longest stay. This exhibit also highlights the next time the International Space Station will fly over our area.
